WORSHIP DOESN'T JUST HAPPEN
Being present is not worship for it takes much more.
1. EXPECTATION We must come with a deep desire to meet God.
Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
Psalm 27:8 My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, Lord, I will seek.
Isaiah 55:6 Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.
Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek me and find me when you
seek me with all your heart.
2. PREPARATION Our heart and soul must be clean and our relationship with others MUST be right.
Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.
Matthew 5:23-24 "Therefore, if you are offering your
gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has
something against you, leave your gift there in front of
the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then
come and offer your gift.
3. PARTICIPATION We must participate through praise, prayer, thinking, confessing, yielding, committing oneself totally to God and His will
John 4:23-24 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true Worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."
Mark 12:30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'
Hebrews 12:28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our "God is a consuming fire."
4. ANTICIPATION That God will be active in our lives each day as we follow Christ moment by moment.
Luke 9:23 Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
Philip. 1:20 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.
